Human Resources Coordinator, Charleston, SC

Position Summary
Jennings Mechanical is seeking a motivated and organized Human Resources Coordinator to support our growing team. This position is responsible for coordinating recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HR administration, and employee engagement initiatives while helping create an outstanding employee experience.

This role serves as the first point of contact for many employee and candidate interactions and plays an important part in supporting a positive workplace culture. The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-service oriented, eager to learn, and excited to begin or grow a career in Human Resources.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Recruiting & Talent Acquisition
  • Support the full recruiting process from job posting through new hire onboarding.
  • Post and monitor open positions via ATS (JazzHR)
  • Review applications and screen candidates for minimum qualifications.
  • Schedule interviews with team and communicate with candidates throughout the hiring process.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements including background checks, drug screens, and reference checks.
  • Prepare new hire documentation.
  • Attend job fairs and build relationships with local trade schools, universities, and high schools
  • Represent Jennings Mechanical professionally during the hiring process.

Onboarding & Employee Experience
  • Coordinate new hire orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Prepare onboarding packets and employment paperwork.
  • Coordinate employee uniforms, PPE, business cards, and onboarding supplies including computer, phone, & ipad set-up.
  • Assist with quarterly employee recognition program and spot awards
  • Manage content for quarterly company newsletter
  • Help organize quarterly employee appreciation events and engagement activities.

Human Resources Administration
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HRIS records.
  • Assist with benefit enrollments and qualifying life events.
  • Prepare employment verification letters and HR correspondence.
  • Maintain confidential employee information.

HR Projects & Department Support
  • Assist with training coordination and maintain training documentation.
  • Support performance review administration and maintain schedule
  • Maintain social media presence and develop a social media calendar to drive engagement
  • Help maintain HR policies and forms.
  • Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
  • Support Charleston office with office operations tasks

Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of administrative, customer service, or office experience.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.  Recent grads welcome to apply.
  • Experience working in construction, skilled trades, or service industries.
  • Experience using HRIS or Applicant Tracking Systems.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer.
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to walk throughout office and warehouse facilities.
